I think, after walking a hundred metaphorical miles in a different direction, that we confuse our passions with recognition of our passions' output. One exists in spite of ourselves, despite our dampening, despite our desires otherwise. It is this most primal of needs finding its way to the surface. The other is someone going "Hey, you came. Fantastic! Let's talk about how great you are because of it." While I thrive on positive affirmation, the second has always been a little too voyeuristic. I feel the appropriate response is to say "Yes, and a jolly good time it was!". Instead I say thank you. A lot. And feel like a porn star with a key

" I wrote this a year ago, while I was falling head over heels for someone. Now, a year later, all I can think of is how thankful I am that he has been a vital part of my life-- an amazing partner committed to our foundations. Someone who I fall in-love with more every day.  Sometimes, even my words get it right.

I've been off the radar. My house flooded in June, and when the pulled the carpet up there were many cracks in the foundation. This kept me busy for a while. I've been elbow deep in school: my associates is technically finished two quarters early so I can transfer into my school of choice. I've been writing a lot, but it's mostly been novel work and the occasional short story, and I'm trying to focus on publication. So I have a lot going on up there. Hopefully, with the fall, one gets time indoors to do things, so we'll see how my writing progresses.
